I recently wrote a post about running stores in Marrakech, Morocco which explained that while there really aren't any running specific stores in town there would very soon be a Decathlon opening. Decathlon is a sports department store of sorts.

Well, here in Marrakech, Decathlon is now open for business as of 07 September!

You may be thinking, "Does this really need a whole post all of its own on your blog?" And the answer would be, "Yes, it certainly does." This is a first of its kind to come to Marrakech. Not only does this mean that cycling, fishing, football (soccer), and hiking clothes and equipment are now available but most importantly Decathlon's opening brings with it a huge supply of running gear (at reasonable prices).

For runners visiting Marrakech for holiday if you forget a piece of your running gear there's no need to worry, you'll likely be able to pick up what you need from Decathlon. They carry shoes, socks, running shirts, shorts, tights, and packs. They even have a small selection of recovery compression socks.

The store is really conveniently located on the road into Marrakesh from Casablanca next to the large Marjane (supermarket grocery store). This is only about a 10 minute taxi ride from the main Jamaa el Fnaa Square in the center of town.

Now there's no excuse as to why you're not taking advantage of every chance to run during your next visit to the beautiful city of Marrakech.
